Standard 3
Webster Class Wiki Great for students to post writing examples and be able to see who is reading it, (other classrooms or even other schools).
I could use this in either of my writing classes and then invite other classroom to read my students writings.
Response to Kindergarten Collaboration: Wow! This Kindergarten teacher really has things happening in her classroom. I'm impressed.
Authenticity of Learning was apparent as well as Real World application as the students were active and not just listening. On their Mother's Day activity they were interviewing each other on video. Their Earth Day project showed collaberation with the 2nd graders in their building and included citizenship, creativity, and Social Studies. The grocery bags were a great application of real world. My favorite was the global collaberation with students in Australia.
Complexity of Thinking: Maria was able to demonstrate different levels of thinking by her kindergarteners on her blog. The "I Love the Earth" voice thread showed some lower level thinking, (things they loved about the earth), and some higher level thinking,(what we can do to help the earth). The shoe math activity extended to other cultures through their link, videos, and audio. The voki dog was a good example of choral reading on audio. It's hard to tell how complex the thinking was on the Mother's Day video as we don't know if the teacher or the class came up with the questions.
Instructional Approach to Learning: Maria employed several different methods on her blog. The students were active as they videoed each other and responded to different tasks. Assessment was very clear and apparent on the patterns video and a great escape from written assessment. Assessment of the level of thinking was also apparent on the "I Love the Earth" voice thread. My Reflection on meeting this standard (So What?)
I've examined some uses of technology in different class levels and situations. In completing the "What I See" doc., I've shown how I can integrate technology into my lessons.
My Future Learning Goals related to this standard (Now What?)
I would like to create something as a class, (website, blog, or wiki), where I can communicate with students and parents and share what we are doing in school.
